Tatyana Turner, 24, is a second-year part-time student at the Columbia Journalism School. Inspired by her upbringing in the South Bronx, one of New York City’s most diverse pockets, she became passionate about writing on issues surrounding public housing, poverty, gentrification, and land use in predominantly low-income communities. Her goal in journalism is to expose extraordinary people, places, and stories in areas that may be overlooked and underserved. In May of 2020, Turner will graduate with her Master of Science in Journalism and will apply her skills to continue reporting for the Bronx and beyond.
